Washing Directions
Washing Directions
Small load – 1/2 to 1 oz of detergent
Medium load – 1 to 2 oz of detergent
Large load – 2 oz of detergent
We do NOT recommend overfilling your laundry tub with clothes. It is best to work with a medium size load and about 1 oz of detergent. This way your laundry tumbles/swishes around in the tub and gets plenty of water and detergent on all the garments to ensure a proper cleaning.
When to use Hot Water
Hot water is good for whites, typical dirty clothes, sweaty active wear and diapers. Hot water is best to remove germs, kill dust mites and heavily soiled items.
When to use Warm Water
Warm water is good for cleaning most man-made fibers, knits and jeans. It will clean without fading or significant shrinking.
When to use Cold Water
Cold water is best for dark, bright colors that bleed or delicate fabrics. Pre-treat or pre-soak your clothes if items are heavily soiled.
Laundry Tips

Stain removal. Simply place a little detergent directly on the stain and scrub the fabric together. Some stains respond better with cold-water vs hot water. For more details on a specific stain removal, please see our blog posts.
Remove the toughest stains with Oxy Boost and Un-Bleach.
Soften hard water and clean with Epic Washing Soda.
Soften fabrics and remove odors with Organic Fabric Softener.

We put a hammock that had been in a moldy boat into the wash into crappy washers at the local laundry and it came out spotless. The clothes felt CLEAN, but there wasn't much of a fragrance afterward. I bought this when I was camping and getting chewed apart by insects in the hope that the cedar might help with that. Expected more cedar, and the jury is still out on the bug repelling capabilities because the weather got cold before I could really try it, but as far as the cleaning capability -- great. Also big props on the packaging -- just cardboard, No bubble wrap or plastic AT ALL. FSC certified cardboard.
Will update this as needed, but so far we'd buy it again.
Meant to get the cinnamon, but wasn't paying attention. No use in not using what I already have, though!
The scent is kinda like woodchips, but it's very gentle. Clothes come out smelling clean, and the cedarwood fragrance is faint. This is a plus for me, since I was worried it would be super potent. Looking forward to the cinnamon! :)
This great product last a full year with a family of 4. (the 5-Gallon option)
To me it doesn't have a very strong scent so that was disappointing but I am sure for others it is great. The product seems to work great.
I was having a little moth problem due to a lot of cashmere and merino wool (and dry cleaner bags) in my closets late summer or so...after googling essential oil benefits, etc. and buying cedar oil sprays and blocks, I came across this detergent. It made sense that there could be a cedar oil-type detergent since so many on the market are scented or contain other oils. I figured this help my efforts to protect my clothes.
Pretty economical when you break down oz. cost with Mrs. Meyers, etc. and nice not to have to buy more every few months for a small household. I would say it cleans just as good or what I expect it to based on using Mrs. Meyers for years. I really do not have many stains, so I rarely need stain remover. I did not notice any dinginess or fading. Scent was a nice surprise from using flowery smells for so long. I have to think this detergent helped get rid of a few moths as I have not found any new holes in sweaters, socks, etc. (Yes, I re-dry cleaned and even froze sweaters that tend to attrack bugs.) The scent must be enough to repell/kill the larvae that may have hid in my closets and drawers.
I like the free shipping, pump, etc. and the company is from my home state of Missouri......good to support a local business/entreprenuer. Now I can't wait to try some of the other scents....I don't think I will need to be running to Target for detergent anymore.
