What is Sodium Bicarbonate?

Sodium Bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, is a white crystalline powder that is water soluble and slightly alkaline. It is commonly used in baking, cleaning, and medical applications.

Why do we use it in our products?

Rustic Strength uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in our products for several reasons:

  • Water Softening: Sodium bicarbonate helps to soften water, enhancing the effectiveness of cleaning agents by preventing minerals in hard water from interfering with the cleaning process.
  • Stain Removal: It acts as a mild alkali, aiding in breaking down and removing grease, grime, and other tough stains.
  • pH Regulation: Sodium bicarbonate helps to regulate the pH levels in cleaning solutions, making them more effective in removing dirt and stains.
  • Eco-Friendly: It is a biodegradable and environmentally friendly ingredient.
  • Bubble Control: Bubbles are controlled when carbon dioxide gas is dissolved in water. This reaction produces bubbles which help with cleaning or baking.

Is it safe? Is it non-toxic?

Sodium Bicarbonate is safe for most uses but still must be handled safely and in moderation. It is biodegradable and eco-friendly making it a sustainable ingredient for Rustic Strength’s products.

In summary

Rustic Strength incorporates sodium bicarbonate into our products for its effectiveness in water softening, stain removal, pH regulation, and bubble control. Its biodegradable and eco-friendly nature aligns with our commitment to sustainable practices.
